A glimpse of my life ......

My morning routine. A cup of tea in bed before the mad dash which is the school run. Back home, Summer and I visit Crantock or Fistral Beach, or Pentire Headland which are all on our doorstep. I look at the sea and sand, the textures and colours, breathe them in hoping for inspiration, Summer does doggy things. Home for 10 and it's a mug of fresh coffee and time for work.
My studio. Downstairs is where it happens. My paintings are always on the floor, I drink my coffee looking at yesterday's work, put on some music (Smiths, REM, Blur, Beth Orton, Nick Cave are current favourites), and I begin. I try and stay focused until 2.30 when it's time to be mum again.
Favourite artists. I'm reading a book about Matisse at the moment, so I'm Matisse mad. I also love David Hockney, Richard Diebenkorn, Bonnard, Vanessa Bell, Giorgio Morandi.
Most treasured painting. A painting of my daughter as a baby, in it she has a sweetness which has passed now.
Favourite gadget. My old Pentax camera. I treat it really badly but it never lets me down. I take loads of photos. I try not to think about what I take, anything that interests me, it's like taking notes.
Best holidays. France. Plymouth to Roscoff with our van. I change my palette to Ochre, Siena and Red as we travel south. We're getting a dog passport for Summer.
Favourite homecooked meal. Lobster from 'The Fern Pit' up the road. They cook it, we eat it at home!
Spare time. Surfing the net for artists and reading blogs. I read books when I'm away. The last book I read was 'The Unbearable Lightness of Being' by Milan Kundera, I've read it 4 times.
Evening routine. None as such. We tend to hang out in the kitchen chatting and drinking wine we've brought back from France.
